Of uncertainties, holiday mood, weekend blues...

Only few days ago, I posted "Of heightened security needs..." praising our security forces for their success in rounding up armed men in Lahad Datu. Alas, I talked too soon...

Alas, I talked too soon. The first news was Friday and now 3 days later, our security forces are still there in Lahad Datu monitoring the situation when these armed men who claimed to be soldiers of Sulu sultanate refused to leave the country.

In fact the so called proclaimed Sultan Sulu claimed that they will not leave as that is their ancestral home. So where is our Prof Khoo Kay Kim? I, for one, wanted to know what is the history behind this episode. Do Malaysia pay the rent for Sabah or not? Is Sabah rented to Malaysia?

As far as I am concerned, my history teacher never said that when I was in school and the last time I checked with a recent school leaver, there is no mention that Malaysia rented Sabah for RM 5300 per year. So, can someone enlightened me on this?

Musa Aman said that we should not be provoked by stories in social media. Fine! But can someone care to explain what is going on? Some say that we have to be tactful in negotiating with these armed men because Malaysia do not want to jeorpadise the warm relationship we have with our neighbour. Does that means that Malaysia security forces will treat our neighbour citizens with kids glove and negotiate with them when there are any problems? To maintain the good relationship we have with our neighbours? Does that mean that our security forces will negotiate with foreign robbers, kidnapers, PATI, illegal workers because we don't want to jeorpadise the good relationship we have with our neighbours?

Fortunately Limbang is in Sarawak and not in Sabah. Just imagine if Limbang is in Sabah instead of Sarawak, how will Abdullah Badawi explain to the owner that he negotiate Limbang and in the process surrenders 2 blocks of oilfield to Brunei?

On the other hand, if indeed Malaysia rented Sabah from the sultanate, what rights does the Sultanate (and his armed people) got to summarily "invade" Lahad Datu? Just because I rented a home does not give exclusive rights for the houseowner to barge into my home at any time he likes. Am I correct?

Whatever it is, I really hopes that the 3 day stalemate is not because of the long CNY holidays nor is it because of the weekend holidays or whether all the top decision makers are away on holidays. This is serious and there should be a serious solution to this issue and at the same time will deter from repeats in the future.

In the meantime, I have exhausted of history books to try to comprehend the reasons and the claims made on this issue. Anybody can gove me good historical and factual reference on Sulu Sultanate claims? The closest I have is that Philipines agree to drop their Sabah claim and agree that Sabah belongs to Malaysia.

Of safety nets...

DPM Muhyideen make a blunder when he remarked he's Malay first. Why? Simply because he is not seen to be in synch with his boss who was rigorously promoting the offbeat 1M slogan so much so that everything has to be 1M. Maybe 1MPM6 Najib is reminding himself that 1M actually stands for 1st is Mahathir.

I have been longing to say this for a long time and today seems the right time to remarked that we are Malaysians of different origin. That is good because we have different roots which collectively makes Malaysia a unique place to grow up, stay and be a part of multi ethnics multi religions.

With that in mind, it is appropriate for each origin to work for the best that can be offered. In Kajang, the Chinese makes it clear that they love 1MPM6 and at the same time equally love the PM-in-waiting. I see that as a security blanket applied by the Chinese as Malaysians will be deciding who will lead Malaysia after the coming GE 13. Even so, the Chinese has expressed their unreserved support for PR during the CNY open house.

What about the Indians? Simple, forget about MIC or PPP as these two parties are no longer the mouthpiece of the Indians. Intead, Hindraf is taking over MIC/PPP in looking after the welfare of the Indians. For them, they need more representation apart from the Indian MPs' in both PKR/DAP. The Indians believed that they are good for 10 parliamentary seats in exchange to 25 parliamentary seats currently risky to PR coalition.

The Malays are more concerned of their religious belief and they do not want to lose out to others. For that reason PAS is willing to relook into their existing co-operation with both PKR/DAP.

So you see, everybody has a safety net and this is not limited to just the Chinese, Indians or Malays alone. Our cousins in Sabah and Sarawak has their own safety net voiced out by their state-based parties in Sabah/Sarawak.

Summarising, whilst we are open to changes in government, Malaysians are at the same time looks for their comfort safety net, and hopefully it is acceptable to all. Are we ready for UBAH?

Of friendly reminder to Anwar...

BN claimed that they are optimistic of winning 145 parliamentary seats in the coming GE. That is not an empty talk. It is with substance despite opposition's confidence of capturing Putrajaya.

What will you do when your back are against the wall? Will you accept defeat or will you fight tooth and nail to win? This time around the stakes are high and BN could not afford to lose their years of power and lately abuse of the system. To some BN top echelon leaders, losing the seat of power equates to possible lenghty court appearance to answer multiple charges of countless allegations.

That is something BN leaders could not afford and losing the glitters of powers cum influence cum arrogance may be too stressful to stomach for their wives. Gone will be the days of hugging the Khans, putting on million ringgit rings, flaunting priceless handbags, and the extras of paid shopping free in New York, Sydney, London and Monte Carlo.

That said, what is the gameplan? That gamechanger strategy to win 145 parliamentary seats? Easy... If you can't beat them fair and square, buy them off with truckloads of money. Study the opponents and find their weakpoints.

BN knows that both DAP and PAS are tougher cookies to entice with money. Both DAP and PAS has been synonymous with opposition and both parties have adapted well to the opposition tag. PKR is another story.

PKR's sudden emergence in 2008 makes their leaders cocky and their unofficial numero uno is makng the same mistakes since the pre-reformation days ie overconfident. Worse, Anwar is allowing his personal relationship with his past "brother days" influence his decision making and exposing the fragile power balance in PKR.

Lately there are unconfirmed reports that PKR is sidelining their longtime party workers in favour of untested new party members. Not only that, some state PKR leaders are manipulating for losses in some state and parliamentary seats in return of financial rewards. In short, some state PKR leaders are selling off state and parliamentary seats for BN wins and it will not be surprising when BN is confident of getting 145 parliamentary seats.

Apart from capitalising on certain PKR's state leasders willingness to trade off the sure win seats with money, BN also has Hindraf to thank for their demands of parliamentary seats from PR. Hindraf conveniently disregard the fact that there is no Indian-majority seats and with their insistence to 10 parliamentary seats and various state seats, they are providing the opportunity for BN to capitalise and finish off PR through Hindraf.

Time is not on PKR side. If they fail to address the problem soon, GE 13 will be the final nail to PKR. Not because PKR is weajk but more so of PKR failing to learn from prophet Mohamad's second battle of Uhud. I rest my case for now.

Of heightened security needs here and there...

Kudos to Malaysia's own armed forces for their success to round up 100 armed foreigners in Lahad Datu.

That was earlier when the post was first done. It seems that something is not right somewhere... updated posting is in bold below

Whatever our differences, there are certain common elements that gelled Malaysians together and I believed one of them revolves around our national security.

Despite the many ongoing accusations on the state of our armed forces weaponries, it is good to hear that our own armed forces are vigilant enough to round up 100 armed foreigners in Lahad Datu.

Just a day before, this writer is concerned on South Thailand bloodbath leaving 16 militants dead. It sounds so close and closer still is about the Klang robbery involving a security van and a total loss of RM 1.2M.

As for the Lahad Datu case, I am wondering out loud why did Zahid Hamidi instructed the Armed Forces Chief to issue a statement when the IGP is already on top of the case? Is Zahid Hamidi trying to create the case of 2 Captains manning the same ship? As what happens in the now famous Penang Yee Sang incident where the organisers claimed that a Federal Minister is the one who make an ad hoc decision to call in Psy when the later was not informed of the changes? Is Zahid Hamidi trying to up Hishamuddin on this case? A case of scoring points with 1MPM6 Najib, eh?

Whilst our security forces hauled up a group of armed foreigners in Lahad Datu, their peninsular counterpart needs to beef up and level the score when and if they managed to catch the armed robbers who hijacked the security van and ran off with RM 1.2M.

Referring to Southern Thailand bloodbath, do our armed forces receive intelligence reports on the armed foreigners in Lahad Datu? If their Thailand counterpart were prepared to ward off the militants due to intelligence reports, can we say the same thing to our security forces? Or are these armed foreigners caught by chance? I hope the IGP can shed more light on this. Better still, I hope Malaysia security forces can detail out the weapons carried by these armed foreigners to give a true picture of the situation.

That said, the question that lingers in my mind is - are the armed foreigners here for a specific reason? Worse, are they here to test Malaysia readiness to future intrusion? What if they are the recipients of the infamous project IC? What can Malaysia do to filter out these undesirable elements from our soil?

Whatever it is, due credit should be given to our security forces who are alert with unwanted armed foreigners. In fact, the same treatment should be given to all armed foreigners who step on Malaysian soil, regardless of their background. It is better to be sorry than to be caught with our pants down.

With our long coastline and boundaries, Malaysia should be always vigilant against threats, both internal and externally. I hope that our security forces are always vigilant and shore up their guards, not only in Lahad Datu but elsewhere in Malaysia, be it peninsular Malaysia or Sabah or Sarawak. Let the politicians squabble about who should lead Putrajaya and let us let our security forces be neutral defending our sovereignity from threats, either internally or externally without the meddling hands of politicians.

Note : At the time of writing, there is latest news mentioning about negotiation with the armed foreigners. What's really happening? How many armed foreigner groups breached our shores in Lahad Datu Sabah? Why so many of them here? Are they here on CNY visit to relatives with blue IC? I wonder... The Philipines has their own version of the situation here. So, which is the correct version?

Back in Penang, State BN Chief Teng Chang Yeow of Gerakan claimed there was an attempt on Psy's life forcing Najib to leave the stage last Monday. Is Teng implying that our security forces are so porous that this can happen in 1MPM6's presence? Or is it another attempt to cloud the issue why Psy failed to participate in Yee Sang tossing? Instead of identifying the Federal Minister who make an ad hoc decision to include Psy in Yee Sang, now Teng is partly pushing the blame to our security forces. Why? Because our security forces has no avenue to defend themselves whilst the Federal Minister will squirm her his way out of the sticky situation.

Ok, back to Lahad Datu sticky situation. It seems that everything is not as it seems to be. Almost 24 hours later, it is still deadlocked with confusion and questions. What is really going on? The so-called armed foreigners are now termed as 'royal army' of the Sultanate of Sulu.

Instead of simple 1-2 solution, now many parties are offering varied reports and there is no ending to the story. Some comments mentioned that Sabah was "rented" to Malaysia for RM5300 per year. This is hearsay based on court proceedings of 1930's. If that is so, then is it not the Cobbold commission finding that determined the people of Sabah and Sarawak chose to join Malaya in forming Malaysia back in the 1960's? That said, will it be possible for the Cobbold commission finding supercede the 1930 court decision? And if that line of thought stands, why (if the government did pay the rental) did Malaysia pay the rental? To whom? and where is the receipt? When is the expiry date? Or is it as per Francis Light said "until the sun rise from the west and sets in the east" situation?

Or better still, is the rental money paid to appease some people somewhere? And this rental payment has been wrongly construed as Malaysia's acceptance of the situation? Now, if Sabah is on lease, who is the legitimate owner of Sabah? What is the legal standing of those residing in Sabah? Are they Malaysian citizens or are they not? Worse still, are they rented citizens of Malaysia?

The standoff is long enough and I sincerely hope our security forces moved in before the whole episode flares the international attention and put Malaysia into an awkward situation with our equally awkward 1MPM6 trying to resolve the issue. For all you know, 1MPM6 may be asking "Are you ready for **** sultanate?" instead of making a firm stand in Lahad Datu.

Of MCA's intrusion, 1MPM6's humiliation...

" My ambition was to be a postman but fate makes me a Menteri Besar" - BN Menteri Besar
"My ambition was to be an MC but I am fated to be PM of Malaysia. HSince I am the PM, I can decides to be the MC in Penang but I never expected to be humuliated there..." - 1MPM6.

Two different scenarios and 1MPM6 is caught unprepared with the reception or rather the vocal "NO" echoed back to his question of "Are you ready for BN". Not once but three times!!

Whilst blogs have a field day reporting and uploading the video, MSM is still in a state of denial and conveniently place the issue on the back burner, similar to Rais's statement of "It is a non-issue". Say what they want, all you have to do is to go to youtube and type "Najib, psy" and you can judge yourselves on what transpired.

This posting is not about the "does it happen or dnot". This time, I am touching on something outside that. Did you guys remember who organise the CNY bash in Penang on that fateful day? Is it Gerakan or is it MCA? The way I see it, MCA is stealing the thunder from Gerakan and actually spearheaded Psy's performance in Penang. Yet, Gerakan has been synonymous to Penang since the 60's and for MCA to take the lead in Psy's Penang performance is akin to backstabbing between partners. What is MCA trying to prove?

Is MCA pleading to 1MPM6 that MCA is better suited to lead Penang compared to Gerakan? Or is MCA trying to find a new bastion since they are losing the battle in Johor?

Whatever it is, Najib has been humiliated in Penang. First, he was humbled by the clear "NO" response to his "Are you ready for BN" rhetorics. Second, he was further humiliated when Psy did not acknowledged the PM. Psy don't even know that the MC was Najib aka 1MPM6 aka Prime Minister of Malaysia. That's what Najib gets when he choose to allow himself to be dictated by politicians who has their own agenda!

Not only that, Psy make a "no show" to BN's on tage Yee Sang and the video can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvmh775H-WY&feature=player_embedded poor BN!!! I may be a cticic of BN but MCA's total humiliation of 1MPM6 Najib when Psy did not turn up for the yee sang tossing is totally unacceptable. In fact, the lady MC place all the VVIP's of the day well below Psy by making them craned their heads waiting for Psy is pathetic. A clear sign that BN days are nearly over...

Further, BN has categorically stated that Psy's performance has nothing to do with politics and it is just a CNY bash. Why did Najib deviated from this and instill the political side when he ask the now famous "Are you ready for BN" question? Apparently, it is another "cakap tak serupa bikin" attitude of BN as reflected by BN supremo Najib himself.

On the sideline, I have previously tag 25th Feb as the date of Parliament dissolution. Now the date has been slightly change to a later date. Reason? I did not see Najib dissolving the parliament during the upcoming Mesyuarat Raja-raja scheduled from 25th to 28th February 2013. The earliest date for Najib to conveniently dissolve the parliament shall be on Friday 1st March 2013 and if we were to take account that the PM weekly council with his Royal Highness is on Wednesday, then Najib timeline to announce the dissolution will be between 1st and 6th march 2013.

Whatever date Najib choose to dissolve the parliament, Penang will be a bridge too far for BN. Not only that, the pulse from the ground is pointing to "Ubah" and BN may be finally on the way out after GE 13. If that happen, then Penang can pride itself for being the first state to humble 1MPM6 Najib with their "NO" response. Maybe this will be a sign for those BN potential GE 13 candidates to reevaluate themselves before offering to stand in as BN candidates for GE 13. It is not too late to graciously turn down Najib's appointment and instead of carrying the jaded BN flags, these potential BN candidates can switch over to join the peoples movement and together show BN the exit in the coming GE 13.

Of self inflicted injuries...

Kebal? We are no Hang Tuah!!! If they are not "kebal" then why is PR's small leaders doing things akin to self inflected stabbings? Are they dungus? Or are they working secretly to make sure PR stays opposition after GE 13?

Only yesterday I attended a meeting whereby the normal people like you and me are now openly talking and opinioned that BN will go down in GE 13. And these people are all professionals, what Muhyiddin described as the backbone to Malaysia's march towards developed status by 2020! Incredible as it sounds, these same professionals will not even dare to talk about PR last year but now these professionals are openly supporting the need to "change" the government of the day come GE 13! A real turnover, indeed.

This open support is making some of the so-called opposition mid-level leaders big headed leading politically self inflected injuries which may cost PR, their chance to be in Putrajaya. Whilst Karpal "Sing is King" keeps on choosing to be continuously in legal disagreement with PAS on the word "Allah", Lim Soo Nee opts to create controversy with his "spice girl" performances. What is Lim's real intentions? To see how far PR will bend over to accomodate him? Or setting an example to other non-PR groups on the can and the cannots for CNY?

What about Nasharuddin Mat Isa's ommission from Majlis Syura? Nasharuddin has time and time again did not attend Majlis Syura meetings but is willing to spare time recently to accompany 1MPM6 to the middle east. You cannot have best of both worlds. When Nasharuddin cannot give his full devotion to Majlis Syura which is one of his party's in-house committee, then he should not be crying fault when the majlis Syura remove him from the party and at the same time Nik Aziz put him in place by mentioning that Nasharuddin is free to leave PAS if he wishes too. Now, Nasharuddin, like Hassan Ali is acting like sour grape using the other party's media organ to blast his own party. So unbecoming of Nasharuddin who hardly visited his parliamentary seat of Bachok!!!

In Sabah, opposition smells blood and in this frenzy starts fighting for the state top post. Off-season politicians including Yong Teck Lee is using state-based politics to strike a deal with PR whilst PKR's state leadership is seen to be in disarray. Everybody is eyeing Musa Aman's seat. How confident of them, counting the chicks when there is no sign of hatching!!!

Truthfully, BN is backpedalling so much that they are willing to invite and pay psy of Oppa gangnam style to perform in MCA's do to be held in Penang during the coming festive week. Not only that, Ng Yen Yen is beating RoseCTmah by offering to perform together with psy. Mind you that Ng Yen Yen is not even from Penang but hails from Penang. Fortunately RoseCTmah is not into Psy, she is more into the likes of Salman and Sharukh Khan.

Whatever it is, PR has the best chance to wrest Putrajaya from BN this time around. They have to play their cards right and at the same time rein in the little leaders who are getting out of line. If they do that, maybe PR can send 1MPM6 packing in GE 13. The fear is PR is too gung ho that they might present Putrajaya back to BN on a silver platter...

Kong Hee Fatt Choy and drive safely. Wishing all the best of health to be able to contribute something in GE 13...

Till then...G'nite M'sia...wherever u are...
